QotD: My Thoughts on Prenups

Would you sign a prenuptial agreement? Why or why not?

Of course. Realistically, chances are that I will be the wealthier spouse, and in my world, love and business are entirely separate things. If you love me, you can show me that you aren't marrying me for my money. I have seen too many times how badly blind faith in somebody can end up.

Even if my future husband is wealthier than I am, I will still sign it. I do not want anybody's money or support. Any money that I did not earn is dirty to me and I couldn't sleep at night if I spent it.

If ya got a moment, I want to understand. Please clarify.

Im confused at how love and business are seperate in your world, but someone shows you that they love you and arent marrying you for your money by singning a prenup.

It's exactly the way it sounds. Separate love and business. By signing a prenup, he is separating his love for me from his desire for my money. Let financial issues be something completely unrelated to and independent of the relationship.

I totally agree... big time. Most relationships fail, including marriage, so the prenup looks smart when the party's over. Sad, yes. True, yes.
